Friday, October 18th - Forest Farming Office Hours with the Appalachian Forest Farmer Coalition

We will be joining this event which is hosted on a regular basis by our partners at the Appalachian Forest Farmer Coalition to talk a little bit about the the Midwest Forest Farming Coalition and answer any questions you have about forest farming.

Saturday, October 19th -

2024 Chestnut Roast 

This annual event is hosted by the University of Missouri Center for Agroforestry. 

A variety of agriculture, conservation, and forestry exhibitors will be present, including the Midwest Forest Farming Coalition! Come hear us present about forest farming opportunities and trainings, or stop by our booth to learn more about us.

Other News

The last few weeks have been busy for the MWFFC. We have had the pleasure of attending several events with like-minded organizations to share about forest farming opportunities in the Midwest. Some of these events included:

Southern Ohio Forest Farming Conference- hosted by Rural Action and United Plant Savers in Rutland, Ohio

Perennial Farm Gathering- hosted by the Savannah Institute in Madison, Wisconsin

K.C. Farmers Coalition Work-and-Learn- hosted by the KC Farm School at Gibbs Road and Kansas City Black Urban Growers Inc. in Kansas City, Kansas

We also assisted in a forest inventory for an ongoing research project investigating the effects of forest management on non-timber forest products. This research is being conducted by Raelin Kronenberg, a PhD student at the University of Missouri and Research Specialist and the Lincoln University of Missouri.
